Callaway Rogue Golf Fairway Woods

Callaway Rogue fairway woods are designed to deliver long distance and forgiveness for a wider range of golfers. They feature Callaway’s Jailbreak technology, which uses two internal bars to stiffen the clubhead at impact, transferring more energy to the ball for increased ball speed and distance. Additionally, a large, deep Face Cup creates a larger sweet spot and promotes higher ball speeds on off-center hits, making the Rogue fairway woods more forgiving on mishits. This club is a good option for golfers who want more distance and forgiveness from their fairway woods, with a focus on a larger sweet spot for improved performance on mishits.

Perfect fairway woods for:
Golfers who prioritize distance and forgiveness in their fairway woods.

Key features include:

Jailbreak TechnologyTwo steel Jailbreak bars that stiffen the body, placing more impact load on the face to promote increased ball speed and distance.
Ultra-thin Face + Face Cup TechnologyThe steel face is extremely fast, and the face cup promotes more speed on both center and off-center hits.
Internal Standing WavePositions the CG low and forward to promote a distance-enhancing combination of high-launch and low-spin.
Triaxial Carbon CrownLighter and stronger than steel. The saved weight, along with the weight saved by the fixed hosel, is used to pull the CG lower to promote easy launch and increase MOI for forgiveness.
Aero PackageThe speed step has been refined in size, shape, and position to promote better airflow and more club speed.

Top Competitors

The Callaway Rogue fairway woods faced competition from two strong rivals. TaylorMade M4 offered a multi-material construction for potentially more distance and lower CG, along with its signature Hammerhead slot technology for increased forgiveness on off-center hits. Titleist TS2 countered with a large, powerful face and its SureFit CG weight system for launch trajectory adjustments. Titleist also provided golfers with more versatility with two head options for high launch or a penetrating ball flight. Ultimately, the choice among these fairway woods depended on individual golfer preferences for adjustability, desired ball flight, and feel.

Progression of the Rogue fairway wood:

This is the first Rogue in a long line of future rogues. This club is still popular today in Callaway’s Rogue ST versions.

The Rogue was the first fairway to use Jailbreak technology, which directly connects the crown to the sole, reducing body deflection and putting more of the impact force back on the face. This fairway wood also got Callaway’s speed preserving Face Cup technology, and, compliments of Boeing, it has enhanced Speed Step Aerodynamics in its Triaxial Carbon crown for less drag and more clubhead speed.

👍 Pros
After some practice sessions at the range and a round on the course, the Rogue has been a significant upgrade to my game.
This is a very easy club to hit and I get a straight high flying ball that has lots of spin and stops on the green.
It performs very well out of the rough much better than an iron. I would recommend it to anyone struggling with their mid to long irons.
👎 Cons
Seems like there is no spring in the face. I get much more distance from my old Taylormade 3 wood.
The face of the club has rusted after two weeks. I did not know this was possible.
The club sits neutral at address, I like to shape shots so I had to return the club because of this.

The Callaway Rogue comes in three models: The ST LS, which is good for golfers with faster swing speeds who want forgiveness without sacrificing shot shaping; the ST Max, which is a long and forgiving club with a mid-launch and a slight draw bias; and the ST Max D, which is good for golfers who want to increase their launch and hit the ball further and straighter. Overall, the Callaway Rogue is good for golfers who want a versatile club that offers distance, forgiveness, and an easy launch.
